Job Title: Lab Analyst

Department: Quality Control Laboratory

Position Summary: Conduct analytical and microbiological testing on dietary supplements, food products including raw materials, finished products and stability samples to ensure GMP compliance. Provide comprehensive technical support and advice in all testing related issues, including but not limited to OOS investigation, specification, evaluation, cleaning procedures.

Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the QC Laboratory Supervisor

Hours: This is a first shift position 7am – 4pm. Based upon business needs different hours, off shift hours and/or weekends may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze test samples utilizing appropriate analytical methods and/or utilizing proper instrumentation as per written procedures.
  • Conduct microbial testing for customer samples, and environmental monitoring as required including but not limited to Aerobic plate count, Salmonella, E. coli, S. aureus, Yeast and Mold, Coliforms, Listeria, and B. cereus.
  • Perform analytical testing as per the SOPs for customer samples including but not limited to HPLC, GC analysis, FTIR, Protein analysis, density etc.
  • Provide comprehensive technical support in all testing related issues, including but not limited to OOS investigation, specification, evaluation, cleaning procedures.
  • Record all testing performed, using good documentation practices, in laboratory notebooks.
  • Review laboratory experiments and data in LIMS, notebooks, and related documents.
  • Follow all GLPs and assist in the general housekeeping and organization of the laboratory.
  • Support other laboratory tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry or related discipline (preferred) or at least 2 years hands-on experience in microbiology techniques/analytical testing.
  • Solid knowledge of Microbiology. Preferred to have prior experience conducting method development and validation work in a FDA regulated pharmaceutical, dietary supplements, OTC or food. Familiarity with ISO 17025.
  • Familiarity with water testing, chemistry techniques like HPLC, GC, Leco, FTIR techniques is preferred.
  • Eager to learn, organized, attention to details, self-starter, and team worker.
  • Good documentation skills required.
