Lee County Sheriff's Office is Hiring a Law Enforcement Deputy (Certified) Near Fort Myers, FL

Starting Salary: $62,500 (Certified)

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office provides a comprehensive compensation package to include:

  • to $22,800 in insurance premiums paid by the agency 100%

  • Role and Responsibilities:
  • Certified:
  • Protect the public and preserve the peace, serving in a variety of assignments
  • Interpret and enforce all applicable federal, state and local laws, general orders, directives, and policies and procedures of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office
  • Work independently under limited supervision

Physical Demands:

  • Must take and pass the Physical Abilities Testing (PAT) with a maximum time of 6:04

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years old, or older
  • Must have obtained a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Must have a Social Security Card
  • Must have successfully passed the Florida Law Enforcement State Officer Certification Exam (SOCE) or are currently attending a Florida approved
  • Criminal Justice Academy for Law Enforcement
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony
  • Must not have used illegal drugs in the last 12 months
  • Must not have received a dishonorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces
  • Must be able to work various shifts with rotating days off, as well as weekends, holidays and emergency events such as hurricanes
  • Must be able to speak, write and understand the English language

Preferred Skills:

  • Computer literacy
  • Knowledge of Lee County geography
  • Polite, courteous, and professional demeanor
  • Bilingual
  • Experience as a Law Enforcement Officer in the state of Florida or out of state
  • Experience working or volunteering with a law enforcement agency in a civilian or certified capacity

  • Panel Oral Board Interview
  • Polygraph
  • Physical Abilities Testing (PAT)
  • Background Investigation
  • Psychological Examination
  • Medical exam and drug screen (after conditional job offer)

Equivalency of Training:

The Equivalency of Training (EOT) process is for out-of-state officers, federal officers and previously certified Florida officers with a four year or more break-inservice

pursuant to section 943.131(2a), Florida Statutes and Rule 11B-35.009(3) or (4), Florida Administrative Code or for persons who served as a member

of the special operations forces pursuant to section 943.131(2)(b), F.S. and Rule 11B-35.009(5), F.A.C.
