Reid State Technical College is Hiring an Athletic Director Near Evergreen, AL

Position Summary

The Athletic Director is responsible for management of athletics programs at Reid State Technical College. This includes supervision of all personnel in the athletic department, significant fund-raising efforts for athletics, and assuring Reid State Athletics are in compliance with policies, procedures, rules and regulations. The Athletic Director is expected to build and maintain effective and productive relationships within the college and with the local community. The position requires working a flexible schedule including evening and weekends.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience according to ACCS Board of Trustees Salary Schedule C3.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise all operations of Athletics including, coaching staffs & personnel, facilities maintenance, fund raising (annual campaigns and capital fund raising), and performance (academic and athletic).
  • Collaborate regularly and extensively with other key departments of the College including Student Services, Academics and Facilities.
  • Assure compliance with all relevant state and federal rules and regulations as well as comprehensive standards and core requirements of the Southern Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Colleges and the guidelines and rules of the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Alabama Community College Conference.
  • Complete compliance functions for each team including generating and housing LOI’s, conducting routine audits of teams, certification of teams via submitting and maintaining all eligibility records by securely housing student data in the even to NJCAA/ACCC audit or eligibility inquires.
  • Maintain and update on an annual basis current handbooks and publications for student athletes which include team rules.
  • Implements academic advising and career planning in conjunction with the Dean of Students and Dean of Instruction.
  • Maintain the Athletics Department Website and assure all information is current and accurate.
  • Confirms and issues appropriate NJCAA letters of intent (LOI) for scholarship athletes and certifies eligibility of athletes to compete.
  • Insures that all athletes have physicals, a doctor’s release, and insurance.
  • Coordinate drug testing of athletes.
  • Develop and oversee plans related to the well-being of students athletes including CPR Training, AED Training, coordination of Athletic Trainers, etc.
  • Develops and oversees an annual orientation program for athletes.
  • Develops and disseminates team schedules for all College sporting events.
  • Maintains accurate and official team records, individual records, and program history.
  • Work with Campus Police to coordinate the use of College vehicles for transportation to games, including the identification of qualified bus drivers.
  • Coordinate with coaches to ensure that they are involved in local community service opportunities throughout the year.
  • Complete all sports information functions as needed.
  • Foster a customer service environment for fellow employees, students, and visitors. Be an Ambassador for the College.
  • Support the College’s initiative to maximize retention of current students and enable students to finish their collegiate goals.
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, Alabama Community College System and Reid State Technical College.
  • Represent the College and its philosophy to prospective students and to others in the community.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Reid State Technical College mission.
  • Participate in all College functions.
  • Attend workshops and meetings that contribute to planned professional development.
  • Participate in staff, division, and committee meetings as assigned.
  • Actively participate in division/college committees and campus activities.
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior, loyalty, honesty, and integrity, both on and off the campus.
  • Other duties as assigned by the President.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution required.
  • Experience as a coach required.
  • Experience in athletics administration (preferably college level), preferred.
  • Experience in postsecondary athletics on the JUCO level preferred.
  • Three years of supervisory experience, required.
  • One year experience as Athletics Director, preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Proven ability to raise significant funds on an ongoing basis.
  • Ability to develop and monitor budgets.
  • Understanding of the mission and purpose of a community college.
  • Willingness to a work flexible schedule.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to project a positive public image.
