Job Title: Personal Trainer
Department: Fitness
Reports to: Fitness Director
Schedule: Varying training times
Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
A Personal Trainer is responsible for the fitness journey of their clients from beginning to end. This journey includes building positive rapport within the club, listening to clients about their fitness goals, developing training programs to help them achieve those goals, and maintaining a safe workout environment. Personal Trainers must be able to demonstrate proper technique, provide tips for critical success, and create effective, goal-oriented training plans. Personal Trainers must also be able to modify exercises according to their client’s needs and fitness levels. Note that this job description is a living document and will be revised as needed. Critical Success Factors:
- Stay current on industry trends, safety issues, and exercise physiology
- Promoting self through personal connections & group instruction
- Ability to build and apply safe, effective, & creative workouts
- Ingenuity to create individualized workouts based on the specific needs of clients
Essential Functions:
- Maintain a safe & clean workout environment
- Build and maintain a personal training clientele
- Create and apply individualized fitness programs
- Create and run fitness programs
- Attend staff meetings when held
- Attend local and national workshops/conventions to keep current in the industry
- Keep certifications current by continued work on yearly CEC’s
- First Aid and CPR skills should be used if necessary
Qualifications:
- NASM, ACE, ACSM Health & Fitness Instructor, NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, or a 4-year degree in a related field.
- CPR/AED required.
- Knowledge of facility emergency procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to fully perform all physical aspects associated with instructing aerobic, mind/body, and etc. classes. Requirements: stand, walk, run, twist, bend, sit, climb stairs, talk, see, hear, and move in a variety of exercises. The employee must be able to lift or move equipment and weights up to 100 lbs.
