Job Summary:

The Retail Maintenance Employee is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency of the store. They perform a variety of maintenance tasks to maintain the appearance and functionality of the store, including cleaning, minor repairs, and general upkeep. They play a vital role in creating a positive shopping environment for customers and supporting the overall operations of the store.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks throughout the store, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces in restrooms, break rooms, bathrooms, aisles, and other areas as needed.
  • Empty trash bins.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and organization in stockrooms, backrooms, and storage areas.
  • Inspect and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards, such as damaged fixtures, malfunctioning equipment, or spills, to the appropriate supervisor or department for resolution.
  • Follows Code W and uses maintenance checklists for verification.
  • Assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment.
  • Support store openings and closings by ensuring that all areas are clean, organized, and ready for business.
  • Follow established safety protocols and guidelines when performing maintenance tasks, handling cleaning chemicals, and using equipment and tools to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure that store maintenance needs are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Fulfill any additional tasks

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or maintenance work preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and supplies, as well as safety procedures for handling cleaning chemicals.
  • Basic handyman skills and the ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects and equipment as required.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate store operating hours and maintenance needs.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions, communicate issues, and work cooperatively with others.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended hours.
  • Frequently lift items over 50 pounds
  • Background check required
