Adirondack Roots is Hiring a Property Manager Near Elizabethtown, NY

Adirondack Roots’ part-time Lee House Property Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep and tenant satisfaction. The Property Manager is a master multi-tasker with excellent communication skills and an upbeat attitude. The Lee House is a 25-unit apartment building for seniors and people with disabilities located in Port Henry, NY. This position will work both in the Elizabethtown office and at the Lee House apartments.

Lee House Property Manager Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, and supervise the staff responsible for cleaning and maintaining the property
  • Review rental applications, respond promptly to each application, maintain building wait list for apartments
  • Manage all aspects of tenant move in and out process to ensure rapid turnover of apartments
  • Communicate effectively with current residents about all issues
  • Process tenant work orders and manage work with maintenance person to ensure that all maintenance issues are resolved in a timely manner, to avoid potential safety hazards or escalating costs for future repairs
  • Coordinate with vendors to arrange for repairs and renovations to be completed
  • Work with HAPEC finance staff to bill residents for rent payments, collect rent from residents, and deposit funds
  • Pay bills on time
  • Collect, bill, and reimburse security deposits
  • Conduct annual apartment inspections to ensure rental units are in compliance and providing a safe and sanitary environment
  • Conduct regular inspections of the property to ensure that it is well-maintained and in good condition
  • Maintain property rentals by advertising and filling vacancies
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations
  • Responsible for creating and submitting all reports
  • Order building supplies as needed.
  • Develops, recommends and implements department policies and procedures
  • Maintain good working relationships with Office for the Aging, Mountain Lake Services and other organizations and agencies that support Lee House residents.
  • Assists with marketing and public relations efforts
  • Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests for assistance
  • Performs general administrative / clerical work as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, entering and retrieving data, conducting and attending meetings, etc.
  • Attends training, conferences, seminars, meetings, etc.; and
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Property Manager Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited four-year college or university or graduate of an accredited two-year college with related work experience
  • Possess the Star Rural Development Certification or pass within the first three months of employment
  • Preferred, two years of experience in property management.
  • Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities
  • Willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule
  • Strong Microsoft Office and database skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Desire to be proactive and create a positive experience for others

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
