Advocate Aurora is Hiring a Radiology Assistant - PRN Near Elgin, IL

Major Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate ability to function as part of a Radiology Department Aide pool serving all Imaging modalities at AMG Outpatient centers.
    • 8)Alerts Radiology areas of patient arrivals and assist patients to the appropriate areas as needed.
    • 1)Answers questions, solves problems for patients and guests independently or with the assistance of the coordinator, supervisor or manager.
    • 2)Ensure that inpatient and outpatient waiting areas are kept neat, orderly and fully stocked of supplies, gowns and linens.
    • 3)Demonstrate flexibility in starting times to meet demands, inclusive of all shifts and weekend hours
    • 7)Other duties as assigned.
    • 4)Ability to respond to work and/or change assignments at short notice.
    • 5)Act as a customer service excellence and information team resource person to Radiology patients, associates and partners.
    • 6)Ability to rotate through and demonstrate proficiency of responsibilities for all imaging modalities
  • Support the technologists, in the activities related to the delivery of patient care.
    • 1)Request transports to and from the Department and maintains proper documentation.
    • 2)Demonstrates the ability to respond to emergency situations such as Code Blue, Cord Red, etc.
    • 3)Responds and assists the technical staff when needed.
    • 4)Assists technologists with transferring patients from cart to exam table, changing of clothes and washroom assistance.
    • 5)Assists in performance improvement activities.
  • Performs clerical duties in the technical work areas of the department.
    • 2)Enters or secures patient information in RIS to include assistance with patient billing.
    • 3)Answers telephone in a timely manner.
    • 4)Enters and processes Radiology orders and schedules patients as required.
    • 5)Data entry activities as required.
    • 6)Coordinate incoming and outgoing calls including recording and reporting of pages and messages.
    • 1)Participate in calling patients to confirm appointment times and or call-backs.
  • Utilizes a multitude of Information/communication systems in order to obtain information and/or communicate information.
    • 2)Accurately identifies and accesses appropriate computer applications in order to obtain or provide required or requested information
    • 1)Maintains a highly competent skill and knowledge level of all information communication systems utilized to include all applications on universal workstation and universal printer, telephone system, paging system, etc…
  • Contribute to a harmonious work environment and Service Excellence Standards.
    • 1)Foster positive communication between all members of Radiology.
    • 2)Demonstrate appropriate telephone etiquette.
    • 3)Acknowledge and respond to all internal and external customers.
    • 4)Demonstrate “Service Excellence” standards at all times.
    • 5)Attend and participate in Department staff meetings.
  • Perform patient interviews to obtain and document patient demographic and medical coverage information.
    • 5)Secures medical records on all patients to assist in the Department’s Quality Assurance.
    • 1)Assures patient information is accurate via review of patient identification materials, patient ID, insurance card/insurance policy materials.
    • 3)Assures that all patient information is accurately and correctly entered into the patient information system according to established policies and procedures.
    • 4)Assures all physicians on prescriptions/requisitions are to be entered appropriately into the RIS to ensure the correct physician receives copies of test results (paying close attention to all non-staff physicians).
    • 2)Compare and verify provided patient information with system patient information.
  • Management of Department supplies in a cost-effective manner.
    • 1)Participate in inventory ordering and distribution of department supplies.
    • 2)Match goods received with delivery orders.
    • 3)Maintain and rotate stock in procedure area while checking for expired items.
    • 4)Stock imaging rooms prior to patient exams.
    • 5)Maintain supply of forms, i.e.: History worksheets.
    • 6)Order supplies and pick up order if needed.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of Department environment.
    • 1)Adheres to department procedures regarding patient and associate safety
    • 3)Ensure timely and accurate processing of work and repair orders for Department.
    • 2)Maintain cleanliness and organization of immediate work area.

Education/Experience Required:

  • • Completion of a medical terminology class or attendance within six months • High School graduate or equivalent. • Strong communication skills • Strong customer service skills • Good organization skills • Typically requires 1-2 years healthcare experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • • Basic phone skills • Computer skills
  • • CPR certification within 6 months

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • • The ability to work in a fast paced environment with established time constraints • The ability to handle multiple tasks and complete work within a short time frame • The ability to perform medium lifting up to 20-50 lbs. occasionally and/or 10-25 lbs. frequently and/or • The ability to perform lifting/transferring activities related to patients • That you may be exposed to various contagious diseases, radiation, electrical equipment, and hazards associate with their use • The ability to work closely with others • The candidate must be highly customer service oriented • The ability to work holidays, weekends and different shifts to accommodate staffing needs.
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
