Job Overview

Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the installation of bulk liquid and gaseous O2, N2, Ar, H2, & CO2 supply systems at both internal and external customer locations.

Oversees the daily activities of the of the Installation & Regional Tank & Refurbishment teams located in East Chicago, IN.

Manages staff needs required to provide on-going product service, support, and installation of equipment throughout a 13-state region.

Implements, and maintains administrative and technical procedures to provide reliable product supply to customers.

The overall objective of this leadership position is to apply advanced technical engineering knowledge and management experience to ensure the safe, reliable, and uninterrupted supply of industrial & medical gases for internal and external customer applications.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementing defined organizational priorities, plans and objectives.
  • Responsible for safety, quality, financial, personnel, work process performance and compliance for the customer service installation and tank refurbishment teams
  • Responsible for the safety, quality, financial, personnel and compliance performance of the Regional Tank and Equipment Refurbishment Shop
  • Responsible to work with regional management and sales teams to address elevated / complex customer service equipment and process issues.
  • Responsible to establish and set team priorities to ensure prompt task completion.
  • Responsible to coordinate work activities between staff and customer service engineering resources.
  • Responsible for safe and reliable installation of customer supply systems
  • Responsible to coordinate site surveys for advanced customer supply systems
  • Responsible for managing and executing new equipment installation projects
  • Collaborate with LGUS, COE Global Customer Service Engineering & Regional Business Teams to ensure adherence of Linde standards and application of best practices
  • Collaborate with Logistics and Distribution teams to address and improve product delivery issues at customer locations
  • Responsible to drive reliability improvements to address rework issues related to equipment, process, or installation issues
  • Collaborate with Operations, Sales, Distribution and Customers to size, install, and commission portable tanks and vaporizer systems
  • Contractors - Active contractor selection, qualification, and management of resources utilized by the Customer Service Installation and Tank Refurbishment Shop

This position is in East Chicago, IN and will report to the North Region Customer Service Manager. Reporting directly and indirectly to the Customer Service Manager are approx.

15 employees including : Installation Superintendent, Project Managers, Installation & Tank Refurbishment Shop Technicians.

This position requires varied overnight travel of 15% - 20%.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, (Mechanical Engineering Preferred) or 5 years of experience managing Bulk Field Customer Service or related industry
  • 3 years of experience leading and managing professional engineers, maintenance, or installation technicians
  • 3 years of field experience in project & construction management
  • In depth understanding of Customer Service Operations for N2, O2, Ar, H2 and CO2 systems
  • Engineering knowledge, methodologies, and how to apply
  • Knowledge with regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of piping systems, welding standards, pressure testing, and NDT
  • Organizational skills, must be able to multi-task and organize at a high level
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work with peers, regional sales team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative technical problem solving
  • Leadership skills, must be able to partner with, and manage non direct reports
  • Ability to get things done through others

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of Customer Service Engineering experience in the design and operation of cryogenic supply systems
  • CAD experience
