Nurse Practitioner (Internal Medicine and Emergency Department)
We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner with expertise in internal medicine and preferably previous experience in the Emergency Department. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care within the Emergency Department and inpatient hospital setting. This position requires the ability to work independently and at the highest level of practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, stabilize patients, diagnose conditions, provide treatment, and determine appropriate dispositions for Emergency Department patients.
- Manage admissions, coordinate care, consult with specialists, plan dispositions, facilitate transfers, and oversee discharges for hospitalist patients.
- Provide care for patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric, within a critical access hospital environment.
Job Details
- Position: Nurse Practitioner (Internal Medicine and Emergency Department)
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, 40 hours per week
- Facility: 20-bed critical access hospital
- Average Daily Census: 3
- Average Monthly Emergency Department Visits: 150
- Average Annual Surgeries: 175
- Staff: Approximately 20 RNs and CNAs, working closely with a multidisciplinary team including pharmacy, social work, nutrition, and PT/OT.
Requirements
- Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- Iowa license (or willingness to obtain)
- Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Department and in Internal Medicine
- Not accepting locum or new graduate candidates
