What to Expect

As a Shipping/Receiving Clerk, primary responsibilities will include receiving incoming materials, processing shipments, and maintaining accurate records of inventory movements. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with various departments and customers to coordinate timely deliveries and shipments, while adhering to company policies and procedures.

What You'll Do

• Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against packing slips or purchase orders, and accurately record received quantities
• Inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies and report any issues to the appropriate personnel
• Organize and store received materials in designated locations within the warehouse or production area
• Prepare outgoing shipments by picking, packing, and labeling items according to shipping instructions and requirements
• Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule pickups and deliveries, ensuring timely dispatch of goods
• Generate shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Maintain accurate inventory records using computerized systems or manual logs, and perform regular cycle counts to reconcile discrepancies
• Assist in the resolution of shipping and receiving-related issues, such as shortages, overages, or damaged goods, in collaboration with the appropriate departments
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shipping/receiving area, including proper storage of packing materials and equipment
• Follow safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace and participate in safety training programs as required

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics or supply chain management is preferred
• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
• Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes, including knowledge of carrier operations, packaging techniques, and shipping documentation
• Proficiency in computer skills, including experience with inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and external partners
• Experience in customer relations or customer service is preferred, as the role may involve interactions with customers regarding shipment status, delivery schedules, and resolving shipping-related inquiries or concerns
