LEAD AUDIO VISUAL TECHNICIAN

Summary of Position:

The Lead Audio Video Technician combines exceptional artisanship and quality with superb technical expertise to deliver reliable systems that delight customers. The Lead A/V Technician is responsible for a team that performs the installation, programming, and troubleshooting of low voltage systems in existing homes, new construction, and commercial spaces.

The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, exhibits attention to detail and strives to learn and apply new technology. The Lead A/V Technician is passionate about developing a long-term career in the residential and commercial A/V industry.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Installation, troubleshooting, and programming of low voltage systems to include security/access control, lighting control, surveillance, distributed audio & video control, telephone, and audiophile-grade sound systems.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, specifications, and operational/product manuals.
  • Develops and manages daily job site work plans and goals. Provides daily closeout reports against plans and outlining any follow-up needs.
  • Self-manages on-site activity during all phases of installation and configuration. Provides leadership on job sites to junior technicians by assigning tasks, mentoring, and overseeing delegated tasks.
  • Accurately completes daily timesheets, reconciles estimated time vs. actual, and provides written feedback to management.
  • Manages adherence to contract scope, specifications, and code on assigned projects.
  • Is fanatical about quality and testing. Supervises job quality and ensures junior technicians meet quality standards.
  • Provides work progress reports and project updates to management regarding production schedule, scope changes, and material & labor management. Responsible for project profitability and team utilization, as well as adherence to project schedule and hour allocation.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with customers, partners, and other trades to ensure customer satisfaction, quality of service, and long-term relationships with the Company.
  • Demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude, and works effectively with a team and as a sole contributor.
  • Responds to emergency service calls as necessary. Able to work periodic after-hours on-call rotation.
  • Travels to different jobsites as needed.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of low voltage system installation experience. Knowledge of construction techniques and wiring methods for existing and new construction projects.
  • Product Certifications in one or more of: Control4, Savant, Crestron, IP-based networking, computer programming, or other products sold and serviced by the Company.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Communicates effectively in person, via email, phone, or text to various audiences including customers, builders, trades, and colleagues.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics and associated circuitry.
  • Deep knowledge of alarm systems and/or telephone systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities. Ability to develop a measurable plan of action.
  • Understanding of signal flows and control systems for home theater systems, distributed audio and video, and advanced commercial systems like access control and biometrics. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve problems.
  • Understanding of networking, VLANs, IP control and topology design. Ability to document and manage full network configuration.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools used to install speakers, displays, equipment racks, end-point terminations, and local systems. Ability to work off a ladder, sometimes at significant heights.

  • Maintain clean, professional personal appearance. Maintain company vehicle – routinely clean vehicle, organize and restock, notify supervisor of maintenance needs.
  • Be respectful, courteous, and polite at all times with customers, employees and job site personnel.
  • Keep jobsite clean at all times. Be mindful of and protect customer and Company property.
  • Familiarity with remote monitoring and service tools like OvrC, or BakPak a plus.
  • Must have clean driving record and pass background check.
