Vive Financial is Hiring a Senior Network Engineer Near Draper, UT
SummaryThe primary role of Senior Network Engineer is to work with the team to solve operational issues, plan network maintenances, expand/build network infrastructure, and respond to network outages. This includes configuring, maintaining, and supporting any current/future configuration standards for all network devices. This position works assigned project tasks and changes with minimal supervision. Some on-call availability will be required.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist in design and implementation plans to make certain network capacity meets existing and future requirements.
- Perform network asset management, life cycle management and related documentation.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
- Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
- Document, explain, and schedule network changes following the change management process.
- Maintain current configuration standards on all Firewalls, Routers, Switches, APs, etc. Including documenting weaknesses and researching potential solutions/upgrades
- Test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
- Some physical activities such as pulling, pushing, and lifting may be required.
Required Education, Experience, And Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field or equivalent professional experience required.
- 5 to 7 years of experience supporting network systems and monitoring.
- Advanced Certification in networking that is in good standing, or the ability to obtain CCNP certification within one year of hire date.
- Working knowledge of L2 switching protocols such as VLANs, RSTP, PVSTP, ARP, ARP Filtering, LACP, VPC, VTP, etc.
- Advanced understanding of the OSI model
- Advanced understanding of optical transceivers and fiber optic cables
- Understanding IGMP/Multicast troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of MPLS/VPLS configuration and design including RSVP, LDP, BGP, etc.
- Understanding of switching and routing protocols including VLANs (802.1q), OSPF, BGP, QoS, Packets, Frames, MTU, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of DHCP/DNS/NTP/SNMP
- Network troubleshooting skills including network analyzers, nslookup, netstat, subnet calculators, ping, throughput testing, traceroute, etc.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
- Highly self-motivated and detail driven.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
