Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for Production Planning and order fulfillment for Howmet Dover Alloy. Monitor workflow to ensure customer requirements are met consistently. Coordinate as necessary with suppliers, customers, manufacturing, engineering, quality, and customer service to generate and execute schedules that meet customer demands while also meeting plant's internal goals.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace's value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.
  • Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook).
  • Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EH&S training.

Job Roles

  • Relationship and communication--interacts with a wide variety of stakeholders; acts as liaison between customer and plant; facilitates understanding of customer priorities within the plant; galvanizes efforts to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Organization and structure--detail and follow through oriented; manages and monitors inventory and information accurately; adjusts "behind the scenes" without causing visible disruption to customers; creates replicable processes and systems in response to emerging issues or opportunities; time conscious.
  • Ownership--tracks down information, people, requirements, or other necessary elements to ensure smooth operation with quality and speed; enables the success of others; advances a "win together" perspective and culture; driven.
  • Balanced attention--spends time in areas of greatest impact; asks "why?"; adjusts to customer demands and coordinates internal resources to deliver, often on short notice; creates plans to get things back on track when necessary; works closely with internal resources to align solutions.
  • Influence--persuades without direct reporting authority; represents interests and capabilities of plant to customers to control expectations and flow; can deliver disappointing news; broadens perspective of others; gains commitment from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Outcome interpreter--has strong intuition; able to understand different layers of complexity and priority for internal and external stakeholders; business minded toward plant outcomes; creates new levels of performance through understanding internal and external factors and combining them to synergistic effect.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans and schedules workflow for alloy production according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Exercises direct responsibility for the tracking of open items, for quotation of changes to project work scope, for securing purchase order coverage, and for resolution of contractual issues delaying input or shipment of customer requirements.
  • Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
    • Monitor workflow to ensure all customer requirements are met.
    • Work closely with operations to address issues that may impact schedules.
    • Identify and resolve problems relating to inventory.
  • Processes orders and owns the actions related to order entry/maintenance, order review, acknowledgment to the customer, and resolution of items delaying either release to manufacturing or shipments.
  • Communicates with regular and prospective customers concerning requirements, talks with them regarding other customer service-related concerns, and answers any other questions. Fields and promptly responds to inquiries from customers regarding status of key projects, open orders, and any unresolved issues.
  • Communicates and coordinates with Outplant suppliers and vendors. Establishes shipping plan and coordinates execution of the plan.
  • Maintain visibility of overdue jobs; analyze and develop recovery schedules.
  • Make changes and improvements to schedules for improving throughput and on time delivery.
  • Effective communication with suppliers, manufacturing teams, production planning, engineering, sales, and customers to ensure timely product delivery in a cost-effective manner.
  • Act as the principal point of contact with manufacturing teams on production schedule issues.
  • Directly responsible to manage and coordinate the efforts of 2 or 3 colleagues in the Production Planning department. Includes monitoring daily activities while also establishing business performance targets and individual development goals.
  • Performs a reconciliation of shipments daily.
  • Produces the final forecasts for the Business Center monthly.

, Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or technical field.
  • 2 years of manufacturing, production control or supply chain experience.
  • Previous leadership experience in a similar role
  • Excellent Computer skills, including MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • APICS Certification is preferred
  • Demonstrates competent use of automated order system.
  • Experience with an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system
  • Strong problem solving and quantitative analysis skills.
  • Self-starter and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Solid base knowledge of manufacturing process and flow of material.
  • Ability to develop and use planning strategies.
