What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Perform advance technique weldments on sheet metal, carbon steel, aluminium, stainless steel and copper with no leaks
- Perform weldments with exceptional appearance
- Operate hand-welding and flame-cutting equipment such as oxyacetylene torch
- Read blueprints and drawings to identify welding measurements and position
- Troubleshoot product issues with minimal assistance
- Monitor equipment operation to ensure temperature conditions are optimal
- Perform preventative maintenance on weld machines
- Use a variety of air and electric hand tools
- Perform leak test
- Operate crane and forklift
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols by wearing protective gloves, masks and boots
- Keep an organized and clean work area
- Additional duties as assigned
Required Experience
- 1-2 years of experience with MIG and TIG
- 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing operation
- Must be able to pass a 6g certification weld test with MIG and TIG
- Read a tape measure and ruler and convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions
- Organized, self-starter, with the ability to work unsupervised while meeting all product quality requirements
- Ability to weld pipe/tubing leak free
- Experience welding steel, stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum
- Ability to read a tape measure and ruler and to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions
- Ability to read mechanical engineered drawings
- Knowledge of engineered specified tolerances
- High school diploma or GED required
- Onsite
- The employee may be required to sit for long periods of time
- Climb stairs, reach and bend regularly
- Occasionally stand, walk, climb, crawl, twist, and work at heights.
- Occasionally lift, grasp, hold and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Manufacturing environment requires use of required Personal Protective Equipment, such as foot, eye, and ear protection when in production locations
- Potential exposure to bad weather, excessive heat, and/or excessive noise
