About Solano Resource Conservation District

Solano Resource Conservation District (Solano RCD) is a special district to the State of California that works closely with a variety of local and regional partners to enhance and protect Solano County watersheds through strategic restoration activities, water education and outreach programs, and by offering conservation planning and watershed coordination services to local residents, farmers and landowners. Position Summary

Solano RCD currently has one vacancy for the Office Coordinator (OC) position. The person selected for this position will report to the Solano RCD office in Dixon, CA.

The OC will work with the Office Manager and Executive Director to carry out various administrative and outreach tasks for Solano RCD. This position will work closely with all RCD staff to ensure all administrative responsibilities are being met. Additionally, the OC will help coordinate RCD public outreach, including events, social media, and website maintenance.

The person in this position must be civic-minded and enjoy interacting with diverse communities; work well with a dynamic and collaborative team, as well as independently; and have strong time management and organization skills. The Office Coordinator reports to the Office Manager.

Work Hours

To perform assigned duties, the employee will be required to work primarily during day hours in the office. RCD staff may have virtual workdays at the discretion of the Executive Director. The regular work time will occur between 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday, with occasional night and weekend obligations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administration (75%)

  • Work with Office Manager on SRCD finances. This includes maintaining accounts payable, reconciling credit card payments, entering data into QuickBooks.
  • Work with Office Manager on SRCD personnel, including preparing, updating, and maintaining personnel paperwork and collecting bi-weekly timesheets, and entering time data into QuickBooks.
  • Additional data entry into QuickBooks, as needed.
  • Maintain SRCD file system consisting of financial records, correspondences, reports, case files, etc., and file the mail.
  • Assist Office Manager and Executive Director to prepare for monthly Board of Directors meeting.
  • Coordinate with SRCD staff and purchase necessary office supplies.
  • Prepare any requested information for Public Records Requests.
  • Work with Dixon RCD on all shared office expenses and needs.
  • Share the position of general receptionist for the District office by answering phones, receiving visitors, providing information, and handling mail.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Office Manager or Executive Director.

Outreach (25%)

  • Work with Outreach Team to assist in updating and implementing the annual RCD Outreach Plan.
  • Work with Outreach Team to maintain RCD social media accounts and website.
  • Plan and implement the RCD quarterly electronic newsletters; coordinate with appropriate staff to write articles and collect photos.
  • Work with Outreach Team to plan and implement the RCD annual report and newsletter; coordinate with appropriate staff to write articles and collect photos.
  • Coordinate public outreach events including tabling events, workshops, and partner tours, either independently or in coordination with the appropriate project manager.
  • Coordinate with the Plant Sale Team on planning, set up, advertising, etc. for bi-annual Plant Sale.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Office Manager or Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent training or credential courses.
  • Work Experience: Two years of relevant experience in an office setting in either an administrative or outreach role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in producing well-organized correspondence, documents, articles, and forms including format, grammar, and spelling.

Desired Qualifications

No single candidate is expected to have expertise in all aspects of this operation. We encourage applicants with passion for community service and outreach to apply.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • The ability to speak, read, and/or write in Spanish.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Basic understanding of administrative functions like bookkeeping and human resources.
  • Experience coordinating outreach events in-person and virtually.
  • Strong written and communication skills and the ability to work with people with diverse interests and temperaments.
  • Experience with website maintenance.
  • Strong creative skills to create flyers and other outreach materials.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be able to work in various environments, including sitting inside at a computer for long periods of time, and standing/walking outdoors in extreme temperatures and on uneven terrain during outreach events.
  • Must be a team player with an ability to work with staff, Board members and local landowners who have a diverse range of backgrounds, motivations and interests.
  • Must have and maintain a valid California Class C Driver’s License and have personal vehicle liability insurance.
  • Employment at the Solano RCD is employment at-will. Employment at-will may be terminated with or without cause and with or without notice at any time by the employee or the District.

Compensation and Benefits

This position is a non-exempt, 100% full-time equivalent position. Solano RCD’s current compensation rate for full-time coordinators ranges from $52,950 to $60,171 per year. There are four steps within this salary range and the successful applicant’s starting position within this range will be based upon experience and education. As part of employment, the RCD offers medical and dental for employees covered fully by the RCD, optional vision coverage, and paid vacation and holidays. Retirement benefits, which include 10% employer match, are available upon completion of a six (6) month probationary period.
