Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Life Science (Horticulture, Agriculture, Agricultural Studies) OR 6 months of greenhouse, or field experience. Degree is not required.
Description:
- Performing day to day greenhouse/growth chamber activities including planting, pollinating, tissue sampling, pest/disease scouting, harvesting, threshing, discarding, chamber sanitation, general plant care, data collection, data entry, facility cleanliness and maintaining safety standards
- Must want to work within a greenhouse facility- there is no lab work.
- Working in the new soybean growth chambers
- Collecting tissue samples off of soybean plants for DNA analysis
- Watering, potting soil, and caring for all plants in the growth chamber
- Replanting samples after data review
- Assisting in operating the soybean threshing machine
- Plating samples to be tested by the Molecular Marker group
- Cleaning of the facility and other basic duties as assigned
- Plant maintenance including trimming, training, and node cleaning
- Cross pollinating
- Plant discard
- Working with soybean, wheat, pollen and dust
