Family Health Source is Hiring a Pharmacy Technician Near Deltona, FL

Job OverviewUnder the direct supervision of the Pharmacist, the Registered Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the Pharmacist in accurately and efficiently preparing and dispensing medications to patients; billing prescriptions to insurance third parties; providing excellent customer service in person and via telephone; accepting payment from patients/customers and maintaining the pharmacy drug inventory.
Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Maintain accuracy in assisting pharmacists to ensure that all prescriptions are processed, filled and dispensed safely and efficiently
  • Receive written and/or electronic prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate prior to data entry
  • Establish or maintain patient profiles, including date of birth, allergies, current medications and insurance information
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPPA standards
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients
  • Accept payment for prescriptions and process insurance third party claims
  • Count, weigh, measure, pour and reconstitute prescription medications
  • Order, label and count stock of medications, chemicals or supplies and enter inventory data into computer
  • Receive and store incoming medications and supplies, verify quantities against invoices, check for outdated medications in current inventory, process returns and inform the pharmacist of stock needs and shortages
  • Assist patients with applying for Patient Assistance Programs
  • Screen and refer all incoming calls and department visitors to ensure that accurate and timely departmental communications are facilitated, and that the pharmacy is presented in a positive manner
  • Keep pharmacy areas clean, stocked, neat and organized as expected
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement meetings and compliance implementation
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Florida Board of Pharmacy
  • Certified as a Pharmacy Technician by PTCB or NHA (Preferred)
  • Minimum one year of retail pharmacy experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), Rx30 pharmacy software and electronic health record (EHR) software
  • Billing prescription insurance claims and resolving third party rejections

  • Interact positively with patients to provide information and resolve patient concerns with compassion and empathy
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, staff and the public
  • Professional, courteous and reliable
  • Bilingual English/Spanish (Preferred)
  • Detail oriented/Organized
  • Effective communication skills: active listening, verbal and written
  • Math skills necessary to accurately calculate pharmaceutical dosing and amounts to dispense
  • Ability to problem solve and be proactive
  • Demonstrate effective time management skills in a busy work environment
Environmental/Working ConditionsBusy retail pharmacy environment requires one to prioritize patients/customers before tasks. Multi-tasking is required to answer phones, acknowledge patients upon arrival and fulfill the essential functions of this position.
Physical RequirementsThis position requires standing for moderate to long periods of time, walking, bending, kneeling and reaching with hands and arms. The ability to hear, see and speak is required to perform the essential functions of this position. This position requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
