Job Summary:
PIC Group has a unique opportunity for an experienced Construction Superintendent for a state of the art, greenfield Hydrogen Storage Project located in Delta, UT. The Construction Superintendent will be located on site and report to the Construction Manager to provide assistance and oversight of the hydrogen production and storage EPC contractors on-site. The Construction Superintendent will assist the Construction Manager with on-site execution, ensuring that the program or project is delivered within the established requirements and meets the specified goals. This is an excellent opportunity for the Construction Superintendent to participate in the world’s largest hydrogen facility for the delivery of green hydrogen to the power generation industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in oversight of EPC site construction for the building of a hydrogen facility, where the electrolyzers will produce and compress hydrogen for delivery and storage in the caverns.
  • Assist in oversight of EPCM site construction of a massive storage facility to be located in the local salt caverns.
  • Fully cognizant of site construction contract pertaining to scope, terms, specification, drawings, etc. to determine specific construction requirements, overall schedule for completion, project budget, and other pertinent data.
  • Assist in oversight of material and erection schedules for both sub-contractors and overall site.
  • Oversee construction site preparation and equipment installation, including electrical, civil, piping, mechanical, labor, painting, insulation, etc.
  • Follows progress of assigned contractors, projects, and tasks, and follows up to ensure that construction and erection is accomplished on schedule and within budget.
  • Maintains current records and charts indicating status of each job against schedule, problems encountered, remedial actions taken, change orders, etc.
  • Assists Construction Manager in the preparation of regular and special status reports as required, authorizes field corrective measures and un-budgeted expenses necessary to comply with contract requirements.
  • Maintains liaison with all site and external parties such as sub-contractors, suppliers, labor unions officials, and customer/client representative to facilitate information flow and resolution of problems relative to project.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable customer contractual requirements for field construction, insurance, safety, government-state-country-local policy and regulations.
  • Evaluates specifications to plan procedures, starting and completion times, and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
  • Inspects all work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.
  • Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials, and costs.
Job Requirements:
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, contracts, and specifications. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to fill in for Construction Manager as needed.
  • Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Skilled in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Proficient in writing weekly and monthly construction progress reports and construction meeting minutes.
  • Proficient in the use of computers using Microsoft office programs, email, internet, ftp/file sharing websites, etc.
  • Basic understanding of construction schedule updating practices and software such as Primavera, P3, P6, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of standard office equipment and materials (printers, plotters, copy machines, fax machines, etc.
  • Excellent communication, leadership teamwork, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Travel may be required to project offices in Salt Lake City and/or OEM equipment facilities as required.

  • Regularly required to stand and walk. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Hearing protection may be recommended and/or required in some areas.
Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering, similar technical field from four-year college or university, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years related experience in construction oversight of large power generation or industrial gas projects.
