Job Description
Job Title: Director of Emergency Services
Reporting to: Executive Director
Responsible for: All areas of Emergency Services and community events for programs
Job Purpose: Manage Emergency Services programs. This would include customer service, vendor relations, all programs, grant writing, allocations, accounts payable process and program evaluation.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Management of current programs in Emergency Services from customers to vendor payment.
2. Evaluate current programs for process improvement and community need.
3. Track use of services and costs weekly (to assess need and adjust as necessary) and report monthly, by program.
4. Collaborate with United Way and partner agencies in the community providing similar services.
5. Track use of current grants and report on a timely basis to donors on statistics of the funding.
6. Research models and grants available to support programs, applying for grants available to support current programs and new programs.
7. Coordinate with Director of Community Engagement social media and communication needs of Emergency Services programs.
8. Participate in fundraising, publicity and education events.
9. Board committees: participate in one (marketing, fundraising and financial)
10. Holiday Clearing House – currently Senior Distribution
Background Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Five years of Relevant Experience Managing Services for Customers
Skill Requirements:
· Self-motivated, self-directed with strong time management skills
· Excellent writing, communications, and public speaking skills
· Computer skills (Microsoft Office, particularly excel)
· Attention to detail
· High level of integrity
· Ability to build effective and collaborative relationships with a wide set of constituencies
· Grant writing experience
· Social Media
· Proficiency in a second language, specifically Spanish, a plus
Key Working Relationships:
Will require excellent communication with inside and outside constituencies. Inside would include direct reports, other team members and board members. Outside would include partners in the community, funding sources and donors.
Position Responsibilities:
A. Planning: Responsible for programs that operate on a daily, monthly and annual calendar (Prescription, Eyecare, Dental, Eviction Prevention, Mortgage Assistance, Utility Assistance, Senior Holiday Clearing House, Back-to-School event, Fans Distribution, Advocacy and Referrals.)
B. Decision Authority: Responsible for decision making related to People in Need on a day-to-day basis. Presents recommendations of new programs and partners to Executive Director.
C. Budgetary: Responsible for developing and managing Emergency Services annual budget. Also responsible for following Accounting Processes for Emergency Services.
Other Characteristics:
A. Supervisory Responsibilities: The Director of Emergency Services supervises one Program Specialist and one Emergency Services Intern.
B. Supervision Received: The Director of Emergency Services must be a self-starter capable of taking initiative and able to work with minimal supervision.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
