City of Deer Park is Hiring a Fleet Laborer Near Deer Park, TX
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Performs tire maintenance work on all fleet vehicles and equipment, assists mechanics and various porter duties.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Answers to the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Repairs and changes tires on fleet vehicles, heavy trucks and equipment.
- Performs various porter duties such as: assisting mechanics, run parts and assists in maintaining a clean shop environment.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES:
N/AMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Tire repair, porter experience preferred
- B license preferred – Class B CDL preferred
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Skills in use of hand tools, power tools and a Texas Drivers License.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Safety toed shoes, safety glasses, lift belts, computers electrical equipment, test equipment, hand tools, air tools, jacks and hydraulic lifts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Position involves considerable physical exertion such as lifting of heavy objects, e.g. equipment and tools, up to 100 pounds and long periods of walking, standing and bending.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Required to work outdoors, subject to adverse weather conditions.
- Exposure to caustic substances in various chemicals.
- Exposure to respiratory hazards, e.g. fumes.
- Exposure to physical health hazards such as large equipment on jacks and mowing parts.
- Exposure to loud to moderate noise due to pumps, motors and compressors.
- Exposure to vibration in engines.
