Dedham Country & Polo Club

CLUB HISTORY: Established 1887 Dedham Country and Polo Club was created on May 19, 1887, as a merger of two Clubs: one, the Norfolk Country Club (NCC) and the other, the Dedham Polo Club (DPC). The Club has a first class 18-hole golf course, the only one in Massachusetts designed by Seth Raynor. The 18 holes remain the same to the present day, with some changes to the second and the sixth holes and moving the tee back on eight. Racquet sports is one of the most popular activities at the Club and is recognized as one of the elite programs in the state. The Club is managed by a young and vibrant team who are all highly academically and professionally qualified, and vastly experienced.

Job Title: Houseman

Position Description Summary:

To provide the highest quality housekeeping and set-up service to our Members and guests, while maintaining the service standards set forth by the Dedham management team. Inclusive of Clubhouse maintenance, set-up and breakdown of events and meeting spaces, overall cleaning and upkeep of clubhouse locker rooms and campus areas, opening and closing responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions/Duties

• Maintain cleanliness of bathrooms, locker rooms, member, and staff areas.
• Set-up and breakdown of events.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of storage space, hallway, elevator, and all areas as assigned.
• Responsible for cleaning and maintaining all rooms, offices, and indoor common areas at the Club, which includes vacuuming floors, dusting, replenishing linens, and towels, disinfecting bathrooms, washing windows, and general trash removal.
• Review work orders/ assignment sheet and update completed assignments.
• Report any damage or maintenance problems to the Supervisor.
• Remove trash and recycle in Clubhouse, restrooms, and basement storage area daily.

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies, and Expectations

• Highly active, multitasking type of environment. Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8-hours in length.
• Physical work requirements: Ability to lift, bend, carry, and exert up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift/transport up to 50 pounds. Push/pull carts or equipment up to 250 pounds.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals.
• This position requires working under variable temperature conditions and noise levels, in indoor and outdoor settings.

Reports to: Assistant General Manager and Facilities Director

Education and/or Experience Preferred

• 1-2 years prior housekeeping experience for a commercial building or private houses preferred. Club or Hotel experience preferred.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work, must be available and willing to work early mornings, night or weekends.
• Must be fluent in English and work well not only independently but also within a team – Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred but not required.
