Springfield Clinic is Hiring an Assistant Near Decatur, IL

The Medical Review Officer (MRO) Assistant is responsible for performing the daily office functions for the Medical Review Officer Physicians, and communicating and organizing the results of evaluations for physicals, drug screens and breath alcohol testing.

Ability to perform drug screens and breath alcohol testing is required.

Job Relationships

Reports to the Operations Manager

Principal Responsibilities

  • Maintain computer data files for all evaluations.
  • Communicate with employer groups to schedule testing.
  • Communicate with both clients and employers results of tests.
  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager, maintain database of employers groups for random testing.
  • Perform scheduled random pulls for testing.
  • Retrieve results from laboratory via Internet and enter into computer for physician.
  • Coordinate patients with positive results to speak with physician MRO.
  • Order drug screen supplies from appropriate laboratory.
  • Follow all Clinic policies including the Nursing Dress Code Policy. Adhere to clinic performance standards.
  • Copy and mail physicals, drug screen results and breath alcohol results to employers.
  • Report to Physician MRO when results are pending.
  • Ability to assist in interviewing patient to determine chief complaint and document information in medical record.
  • Ability to take vital signs and document results.
  • Ability to prepare patient for physician exam.
  • Assist in organizing the nursing station and work area for facilitate good workflow.
  • Assist in drug screenings.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior with employer groups / clients as well as patients.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
  • Follow all Clinic policies and procedures.
  • Follow all regulatory policies and procedures for DOT testing.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned

Education / Experience

Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program.

Licenses / Certificates

  • MRO Assistant Certified or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire date.
  • CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.
  • Maintain RMA, CMA or NCMA credentials according to requirements established by the certifying body. Provide copy of credentials to Human Resources prior to expiration of certification period.
  • Must be a registered or certified Medical Assistant through one of the following : American Med Techs (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Health Career Association (NHA), American Allied Health (AAH) at time of hire, or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP).

If a different credentialing body is presented it will need reviewed and approved by the Director of Nursing
