BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The MSC Digital team is investing in expanding our Data Science and Analytics team. We are looking for an experienced and thoughtful leader with an entrepreneurial mindset to play a central role in advancing the application of machine learning, statistical analysis, and data science at MSC.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Leads a team of data scientists who will design experiments and develop machine learning models to address the most complex data problems in industrial distribution and supply chain.

• Collaborates with business stakeholders across the company to identify and prioritize opportunities for leveraging advanced analytics to create frictionless experiences for customers and associates.

• Effectively communicates experiments, models and analytics outputs with partners and executives.

• Provides direction on the appropriate models to use and the correct engineering approach to drive actionable results.

• Oversee end-to-end execution of data science initiatives from problem scoping, data wrangling, analysis, implementation, deployment, performance monitoring and presentation.

• Establishes best practices for applied analytics workflows and knows how to create an environment and team culture that enables data scientists to perform at their best.

• Recruit and lead a motivated team of data scientists

• Stay current with latest cloud technologies, patterns, and methodologies; share knowledge by clearly articulating results and ideas to key stakeholders. May be required to present ideas to larger audience for review and buy-in.

• Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC?s vision and unity of purpose.

• Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

q Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or another quantitative field required. Master?s Degree preferred.

q Minimum of eight years of experience in advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and machine learning

q Minimum of five years of industry experience in leading data science initiatives across a variety of business use cases.

q Minimum of three years of experience managing a team of data scientists.

q Minimum of three years of experience with operationalizing analytic solutions and integrating them with production applications.

q Strong knowledge of modern data mining, quantitative research, and data science techniques (e.g., decision trees, regressions, machine learning, string similarity, behavioral analytics, look-a-like models)

q Strong knowledge of software development processes and procedures to understand team needs includes fundamentals of iterative and incremental development
