Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Certified Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team to provide counseling and support to individuals struggling with substance abuse. The substance abuse counselor will coordinate assessments for clients entering the program. The CSAC will provide individual and group counseling, process individualized service plans, discharge plans, referrals for other services the client may benefit from, obtain authorizations from insurance companies for services needed, document daily and quarterly concerning each client. This position will monitor and document client progress, offer crisis intervention, educate clients on coping techniques and deterioration prevention strategies. Other tasks as assigned.
Skills:
Knowledgeable regarding principles concerning laws, regulations, policies, and procedures that govern substance abuse services
Effectiveness in clinical documentation
Expertise in addiction counseling
Clear understanding of mental health principles
Ability to conduct counseling sessions individually or in a group setting
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The most qualified candidates will possess the following:
Bachelor's Degree in Counseling or a related field
Must have at least one year of experience as a substance abuse counselor
Must be registered with the Virginia Substance Abuse Professional Certification Board - Applicants who are not registered will not be considered for employment.
CSAC-S, CSAC, LMFT, LPC, LSATP, or LCSW license is required
Experience treating opioid-addicted patients is not a requirement but preferred.
No legal impediments to serving in a licensed opiate treatment program.
Must have a valid driver's license.
