    04/01/2024 For the 2024-25 school year, Dallastown Area School District seeks a Behavior Specialist (K-12) who will emulate our dedication to excellence and vision for inspiring and creating pathways for student success.
    JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education and Assistant Directors of Special Education, you'll function as part of the educational team to provide interventions and consultation for students experiencing behavioral difficulties throughout our K-12 regular and special education programs.
    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Provide consultation and intervention for students demonstrating behavior in the classroom setting.
    • Coordinate with administrators, teachers, outside agencies, mental, legal, health care workers, families, and counselors to better serve the needs of students.
    • Serve as liaison/ LEA Representative with outside placements in cooperation with administration and counselors concerning the welfare of District students.
    • Works cooperatively with and maintains open lines of communication with administrators, parents, students, and staff members.
    • Develops, maintains, and accurately completes all required confidential written records and reports within established timelines.
    • Develops Functional Behavioral Assessments, Positive Behavior Support Plans, safety plans, schedules conferences, and functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
    • Assist teams with collecting data for evaluations and reevaluations.
    • Provides staff members with procedures and recommendations for dealing effectively with behavior.
    • Will participate as an IEP team member to interpret evaluation results and forwards appropriate recommendations.
    • Demonstrates understanding and concern for each student in meeting his or her educational needs, including the recommendation for the evaluation of students thought to be exceptional or in need of special education, gifted education, or accommodations.
    • Provide training and consultation for school staff working with students with behavior needs.
    • Understand and adhere to all Federal and State Law and District policies relative to behavioral interventions and students with disabilities.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director and Assistant Directors.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master’s Degree required
    • PDE / PA Certification in PK-12: Special Education or
      • School Psychologist, or School Counseling, or School Social Worker;
      • OR, in lieu of PDE / PA Certification:
        • a current Board-Certified Behavior Analyst certificate obtained through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or
        • a current Behavior Specialist license issued by the Pennsylvania Department of State.
    • Completion and submission of all mandated pre-employment documents and information.
    • Such additions or alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable consistent with applicable Pennsylvania law, regulations and requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education
