BILLING SPECIALIST
Cypress, TX 77429
Purpose : Under the supervision of the Billing Manager, the Billing Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate data on water and wastewater service sales and customer accounts.
They ensure the generation and delivery of precise bills while providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities :
- Utilize the company's billing system to update and maintain customer accounts with accurate information.
- Generate bills for water and wastewater services in accordance with established procedures and billing cycles.
- Conduct regular audits of billing data to identify and correct any discrepancies or errors.
- Assist in the development of efficient bill distribution and collection routes to optimize billing operations.
- Collaborate with the Billing Supervisor to ensure prompt and accurate updates to customer profiles and accounts.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries regarding billing statements, account balances, and payment options.
- Process customer payments accurately and efficiently, recording payment data in the billing system.
- Assist in identifying and implementing improvements in billing processes, procedures, and systems.
- Prepare routine reports on billing activities, including billing volumes, collections, and outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with the Customer Service team to address customer concerns and resolve billing-related issues.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of customer information in accordance with company policies and regulations.
Requirements :
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience with billing systems (experience with the AVR billing system is a plus).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and billing processes.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with billing principles and procedures, including record-keeping and report writing.
- Adherence to relevant laws, tariffs, and regulations governing billing and customer service operations.
Education and Experience :
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior experience in billing, customer service, or related field preferred.
- Training in billing systems and software is advantageous.
- Certification in billing or customer service is a plus.
