Construction Estimator
Responsibilities
•
Prepare complete estimate for selected project with detailed review of proposal specifications, drawings, takeoff information, contracting, etc
•
Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc
•
to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
•
Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures
•
Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required
•
Include value-engineering ideas on every bid, offer constructive alternatives for missing elements (is willing to think 2 steps ahead to interpret any missing information)
•
Complete take-offs at a subcontractor level
•
Evaluate products’ cost-effectiveness or profitability and make proper recommendations to increase profit margin
•
Other duties may be added/changed for new projects or as different situations arise
Qualifications
•
Bachelor’s degree, or combination of education plus experience in commercial construction
•
Experience with wood, and metal framing
•
Extensive takeoff and blueprint knowledge
•
Experience with Analyzing Information, Tracking Budgets, Reporting Skills, Teamwork and Quality Focus a must
•
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
•
Ability to read plans and specifications
•
Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
•
Construction: 5 years (Required)
