POSITION OVERVIEW

The Dental Assistant is a member of the dental team whose primary responsibilities are to prepare patients for a visit, check-in and check-out patients and schedule appointments and reappointments.

SCHEDULE AND PAY

This is a full-time (40-hour) position.

Clinic Open: Monday – Thursday 8AM - 7PM, Friday 8AM – 5PM. The pay depends on experience, and the range is between $18-21/hour.

DUTIES

• Prepares, cleans, and sets up operatories for patient appointments
  • Takes and mounts dental radiographs (x-rays)
  • Prepares sterile instruments and equipment
• Prepares patients for their appointment and discharge as well
  • Asks about patient's medical history
  • Takes blood pressure and pulse
• Performs dental assistant duties per provider workflow and practice
• Provides and assists with patient discharge
  • Provides patients with instruction for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedure
  • Registers patients for appointment, if necessary
  • Assists with documentation fro accurate billing and charting

QUALIFICATIONS

• Active Dental Assisting Certificate in the state of Iowa
• Iowa Radiology Certification and Sterilization Certification a plus
• Previous training and experience in dental assisting preferred.
