Up North Plastics, a division of Poly-America, is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team. Up North Plastics produces several lines of polyethylene products including high quality trash bags, construction films, and geomembrane liners. Up North Plastics and Poly-America are also the most technologically advanced and largest recyclers and compounders of polyethylene in the world.

Electrical engineers at Up North Plastics are responsible for overseeing the maintenance, installation, and modification of new and existing equipment used for blown film extrusion of plastic sheeting and recycling of post-industrial scrap polyethylene. This role will document, recommend, and execute maintenance procedures and upgrade proposals based on a combination of industrial data analysis and troubleshooting results. The Electrical Engineer will also be the Master of Record.
The engineer will be installing, upgrading, modifying, and working on various types of mechanical and electrical systems and apparatus down to the component level. The types of systems in scope for this position may include; programmable logic controllers (PLCs), 480VC three phase motors and AC/DC drives, variable frequency drive configurations, analog and digital circuitry, servo systems operating with multiple axis, industrial equipment networks and protocols, and human machine interfaces.
Our engineers work in both solo and team environments depending on the scope and nature of the project. They regularly draw on their professionalism, communication skills, and technical expertise to instruct local maintenance personnel on relevant theory and practical applications. The role may involve additional responsibilities and opportunities as they become necessary and/or are assigned by management.
