Job Title: Environmental Project Manager
Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt, Salaried
Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 per year
Reports to: Environmental Practice Lead

GSI Water Solutions, Inc. (GSI), is an employee-owned hydrogeologic and environmental consulting firm headquartered in Portland, Oregon. As hydrogeologists, engineers, environmental scientists, and water experts, we focus on helping our clients protect our shared natural resources. We help develop and manage environmental resources and ensure the long-term sustainability and reliability of this invaluable resource. As an example, we have long been a champion of using aquifer storage and recovery technologies to save water for drought conditions and provide environmental benefits to fish and streams which may be impacted by development and climate change.
We are currently seeking a skilled geologist or environmental engineer with experience in environmental clean-up to work in our Portland or Corvallis office. This is a mid-level professional position that will be responsible for managing tasks in support of large-scale remediation projects. We are actively seeking out applicants with strong technical, project management, and writing skills.
In this role you will:
  • Coordinate with senior-level staff to manage multiple projects while simultaneously overseeing budgeting, performance, billing, and schedules
  • Manage the assessment and remedial design phases of projects, including review of engineering and environmental data to develop and design remedial approaches
  • Develop clear and defensible conceptual site models (CSMs) for complex sites that include upland and contaminated sediments.
  • Mentor junior staff members in sediment investigation and remediation techniques.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, regulators, and management
  • Lead field teams during large data collection efforts
  • Prepare work plans, technical reports, and presentations
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job is conducted largely in a professional office environment with occasional field efforts. The role requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copiers. Field efforts may require lifting up to 40 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
Travel and Field Work
Project areas are generally local or within approximately a two hour drive (Oregon and Washington). Some travel to project sites will be required. Approximately 10-15 percent of work time will be spent traveling and working in the field and/or to project/client meetings.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Oregon RG or PE (or ability to obtain license via reciprocity) is preferred
  • 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER certification (Renewal training course and hours in class paid by GSI)
  • BS or MS degree in geology, engineering or environmental science (MS preferred)
  • 7 years of environmental project experience.
  • Experience working within the CERCLA and RCRA regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working on Oregon DEQ and/or Washington DOE cleanup sites strongly desired
  • Experience preparing work plans, technical reports, and managing project budgets
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS or MS degree in geology, engineering or environmental science (MS preferred)
  • 7 years of environmental project experience.
Valued Education and Experience:
  • Experience working within the CERCLA and RCRA regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working on Oregon DEQ and/or Washington DOE cleanup sites strongly desired
  • Experience preparing work plans, technical reports, and managing project budgets
