Compensation: $15.25 - $19.05 per hour (based on years ofexperience)
Summary:
The Laboratory Assistant I collects andprocesses clinical blood, non-blood specimens in the lab and exam rooms;dispense collection instructions to patients, utilize computer systems for datastorage/retrieval/faxing; maintain work area including records, supplies, equipment,and safety; follow procedures, policies, and Medicare compliance regulations;performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
1. Will participate and maintain a culturewithin The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in the Serviceand Behavioral Standards document. To this end, employee will be expected to read,have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within.
2. Performsadult and pediatric venous and capillary blood draws. Prepare and explainpatient self-collection kits.
3. Registering and checking in laboratorypatients. Scan, file, and disperse paperwork and faxes. Answering incomingcalls from patients and clinical staff.
4. Proficient in researching testrequirements, documenting testing information, and retrieving missing orders. Orderingtests from requisitions sent by providers outside of TCC and ensuring allorders from the EMR interface properly with the LIS.
5. Processesincoming specimens including but not limited to aliquot serum or plasma,receiving and ordering tests, dispensing specimen to proper departments, etc. Receiveand document patient specimen collection kit drop offs.
6. Maintains work area including records,supplies, equipment, and safety.
7. Follows procedures, policies, Medicare complianceregulations (ABN).
Education, Licensure, and Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum one (1) year related experience and/or training inan approved phlebotomy training program preferred.
3. Current Basic LifeSupport (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90days of hire required.
Knowledge andskills:
1. Ability to work compatibly with Physicians, patients, and other staff.
2. Computer skills.
3. Experience in a health care or customer service setting.
