Treatment Specialist Position Summary : Under the direct supervision of the Texas Clinical Director, the Treatment Specialist is primarily responsible for the provision of therapeutic family intervention to youth involved in the juvenile justice system.

The Treatment Specialist conducts assessments, develops treatment plans and works collaboratively with Juvenile Justice Department representatives and youth’s caregivers to achieve the successful completion of youth services and prevent initial and re-placements.

The Treatment Specialist also prepares court reports and provides testimony and / or family support in juvenile courts as needed.

Treatment Specialist Job Responsibilities :

  • Reviews program referrals and determines appropriateness of referral.
  • Conducts intake assessments, including gathering data from caregivers, youth, stakeholders, and other relevant sources.
  • For Family Reunification Services, collaborates with juvenile justice representatives to assess readiness for placement discharge, complete discharge planning and successfully complete the transition into the family home
  • Utilizes diagnostic and assessment information, develops preliminary and comprehensive treatment plans in collaboration with youth systems and juvenile justice representatives.
  • Provides therapeutic family driven interventions to youth and families with the goal to successfully maintain the youth in community.
  • Serves as a case manager on behalf of program participants, providing linkages with stakeholders and community providers.
  • Provides on-call and crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Conducts regular information sharing sessions with juvenile community supervision officers and supervisors.
  • Maintains positive engagement with clients and stakeholders.
  • Develops and provides treatment summaries and recommendations to family and court as required, including juvenile justice court testimony.
  • Provides services in a manner which is culturally competent. Empowers clients by using clients’ cultural strengths and informal support networks in service delivery.
  • Maintains effective professional relationships with other service providers and community organizations in the interest of clients’ and program goals.
  • Completes all necessary written reports, statistics, case files and summaries in a timely manner and in accordance with program and agency standards.
  • Attends and participates in individual supervisory conferences, staff meetings, training sessions and professional development opportunities as required.

Maintains required program certifications.

  • Handles emergency situations which may require flexibility of time and area of assignment.
  • Carries out Agency policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties, responsibilities and related tasks as assigned. Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related behavioral health field or Bachelor’s degree in social work or related behavioral health field with experience providing services to youth and families.
  • Assessment and treatment planning experience helpful.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid State of Texas driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to meet directly with families and stakeholders in the community.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with flexibility in days and hours of work.
  • Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and an understanding of clinical issues affecting families in the juvenile justice and child welfare system. We Offer
