Title: Dispatcher/Driver Manager

Reports to: Location Terminal Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION

As a Dispatcher/Driver Manager at Indian River Transport, you will serve as the driver's supervisor/representative within Operations, manage driver performance in identified categories, be the primary communication link to drivers, and continuously work to achieve optimum driver and customer satisfaction.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be the primary source of communication with drivers, including, but not limited to: load information, purchase orders, maintenance coordination, performance counseling, and dissemination of general company news and information
• Be responsible for effective management of an assigned fleet of tractors and drivers that will yield optimum performance including, but not limited to: on-time pickup and delivery performance, out-of-route miles, hours of service compliance, driver availability, accommodation of special routing needs, and cost control focus
• Ensure that each driver has an adequate understanding of all details of customer requirements and company expectations
• Perform daily accounting of all assigned trucks and drivers and ensure the highest possible utilization
• Lead and retain a designated fleet of regional drivers
• Establish a good working relationship with each driver
• Work with planning to obtain loads for their fleet and dispatch drivers
• Manage driver availability to maximize the productivity of their fleet
• Perform A.M. and P.M. checks and update ETA & PTA's on trucks and note daily
• Perform monthly driver reviews
• Manage driver performance and take proper disciplinary steps if necessary
• Know, support, and enforce company policies
• Manage service levels of 98% for on-time pickup and delivery
• Ensure payroll accuracy for assigned drivers
• All other duties and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong oral and written communication
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
• Basic typing and Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to lead others and solve problems
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time (requires reasonable manual dexterity)

EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrated 5 years of driver management experience
• AS400 Innovative knowledge (preferred)
