THE GEMRT WAYWe abide by a set of five Core Values values, the source of our culture and our growth as a firm. We hope that you find them as compelling as we do!
First and foremost, WE CARE about our team, our clients, and our community. People are our priority, so we’re big on building relationships within the firm and in the community at large. Caring for others fosters an attitude of service and of empathy, so we don’t ask others to do what we can’t do ourselves and always work to anticipate their needs. Finally, the key to any successful relationship is good communication, so we focus on seeking understanding by listening before speaking.
One of the things that drives us most deeply is “wowing” our clients. That’s why CREATE RAVING FANS is a core value. For us this means being resourceful and passionately finding ways over, around, or through barriers to success—always looking for a solution. Challenges are like fuel for us: they energize us to always be adding value. Another way we understand this value is through the lens of generosity. Giving freely of our time, talents, and treasure, we’re able to create opportunities for our clients (internal or external) and share abundantly with those who would benefit.
More and more we find that when we hold ourselves accountable, we realize our potential. That’s why OWN IT is another Core Value. We empower people to do what they need to do; we trust their judgment and support their decisions so that they can stand by them and take ownership. We’re not perfect, and we own it. That fuels our intensity and dedication to go above and beyond and take initiative in a proactive way. We’re not ok with waiting around for other people to make things better. It’s on us.
In our business, how much you know and how fast you can learn has a direct impact on your success. That’s why ALWAYS LEARNING AND TEACHING is a Core Value. We’re grateful to be surrounded by professionals working to hone their craft. It’s why we’re in Public Accounting and not working in Private Accounting—because this is a technical field with an ever-changing landscape and requires a lot of dedication, persistence, and work to stay sharp. We also know that when we started, we didn’t know much about anything—someone took the chance on us to make us better. Someone gave us the attention we needed to pick up the right skills. That’s why we’re so invested in paying it forward. We firmly believe that asking questions is critical to learning, so we work to create an environment where curiosity is rewarded and celebrated.
In our profession, always doing the right thing is critical for the success of our clients. That’s why ACT WITH INTEGRITY AND ETHICS is a Core Value. As accounting professionals, we have a code of ethics that we abide by, and as human beings who believe in a higher power we have a code of morality that we aspire to. At GEMRT, we put God first, Family second, and GEMRT third—so being honest, respectful, and dutiful is our bedrock. To use an analogy—just as a building relies on its structural integrity to stay standing, GEMRT relies on its cultural integrity to keep growing.
We are keen to grow not in spite of our values, but because of them. They are our guardrails and our fuel. Here everyone has a voice, from intern to partner. Grateful for our success and recognizing that we are never successful alone, we always strive to make our people our priority.
Let’s partner!
