Salary Range: $45,210 - $83,749 (based on 1.0 FTE) Excellent Fringe Benefits

Job Title: Behavior Intervention Specialist
Position Overview: The Behavior Specialist will support school teams to implement behavior and social
skills interventions leading to student success by providing supportive consulting services to assist staff
and families in the development and implementation of comprehensive behavior intervention plans for
students. This position will assist building teams with:
behavioral concerns.
1. Essential Job Functions:
a. Support schools with implementation of MTSS and progress monitoring teams.
b. Train and follow-up with implementers to ensure accuracy and fidelity with plan implementation.
c. Demonstrate strong consultation and political skills to navigate challenges of supporting students
with behavior challenges across settings.
d. Support and assist in training educational assistants in assigned programs.
e. Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative
regulations.
f. Knowledge of how to access mental health support for students and family.
g. Knowledge of how to access mental health support for students and families.
h. Consult with building team to develop safety plans and ensure staff training occurs.
i. Supervises and observes students throughout the campus.
j. Initiates and maintains communication with parents and colleagues.
k. Collaborates successfully with colleagues.
l. Other duties as assigned.
2. Other Job Functions:
a) Participates in in-service and professional development activities.
b) Assists in the assessment of building level needs and the planning required to meet those needs
c) Attends meetings and serves on committees as assigned or directed (or if individual volunteers)
d) Sets and carries out goals each year
3. Qualifications:
a) Knowledge of:
i. Positive Behavioral Intervention and supports (PBIS),
ii. Laws, rules, policies, and trends regarding education
iii. Evaluation techniques.
iv. Instructional theory and best practices
v. Human development and learning.
vi. Behavior management techniques.
vii. Communication techniques.
viii. State and federal education and handicapped learner codes and district policies.
b) Ability to:
i. Stand and walk for prolonged periods
ii. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and other school
personnel
iii. Evaluate student needs and progress.
iv. Meet schedule and deadlines
v. Maintain records.
vi. Perform a variety of specialized tasks.
vii. Communicate effectively.
viii. Maintain regular attendance.
ix. Maintain confidentiality.
4. Education:
a. Demonstrated competency through college preparation, student teaching, and/or classroom
experience, and professional development.
b. Experience with PBIS and RTI preferred.
5. License:
a. Appropriate TSPC license, Special Education endorsement preferred.
b. Current ODL.
6. Physical Requirements:
In an eight-hour day, employee may
