Summary
Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Shipping Specialist is responsible to ship material and
products from the NCP facility to customers and/or other destinations as required. Will also be
responsible to check for product damage and to complete and process related paperwork.
Functions & Essential Duties
Shipping
• Prepare all outgoing shipments on a timely basis including palletizing, banding, and
wrapping
• Ship all outgoing freight verifying quantities against accompanying packing slips and labels
• Ensure shipments are picked up by correct carrier
• Weigh and apply labels to shipments as required
• Pick orders in a timely manner and to Customer requirements
• Load trucks with shipments.
• Process parcel shipments through FedEx and UPS software
Administrative
• Responsible for verification of label and packing list process per requirements
• Update shipping visual board for all shipments.
• Complete maintenance log sheet for forklift monthly inspection per instructions.
Quality
• Provide accurate computer input of all appropriate data pertinent to shipping of inventory
• Maintain a safe, clean (5S) work environment, keeping aisles and walkways clear of
material, pallets and other obstructions
• Perform maintenance checklist items on forklift and document on log
• Authority to stop process if necessary to correct a quality problem when related to the
shipping process.
Education and Required Experience
• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of two years' experience in a warehouse environment with shipping and/or
receiving responsibilities.
• Driver’s License required with no major traffic violations on record.
Skills
• Safely operate a sit down or stand-up forklift (Forklift certification preferred)
• This job requires a basic command of the English language
• Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, dividing & multiplying)
• Computer skills (word, excel, outlook)
• Ability to read and understand work instructions and procedures
• Familiar with shipping and receiving processes and associated paperwork
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and move a variety of materials both manually and with material handling
equipment
• Ability to manually lift up to 50lbs unassisted if needed
• Ability to perform computer work
• Ability to neatly and accurately complete all related paperwork
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop and bend to perform duties related to shipping/receiving
• Ability to safely use a box cutter
Safety
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures
• Report unsafe conditions or other safety related issues immediately
• Use required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as directed
• Follow ISO-14001 procedures related to environmental impacts & aspects
