About the Position: Serve as a Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) at the Army Military Ocean Terminal, Concord, CA (MOTCO).

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience working with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life such as; enforce security rules and regulation, escort persons or vehicles, verify the identification of an individual entering controlled areas, perform security patrols to identify potential hazards, perform traffic control, control the access of personnel or vehicles to property/installation, monitor various alarm systems, or respond to security incidents. Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

  • Physical Security
  • Security Enforcement


Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
