Obetz Animal Hospital is a multi-doctor, small animal veterinary hospital located in Columbus. We are looking for an additional full or part-time Registered Veterinary Technician who believes in our mission of high quality pets from high quality medicine! The Registered Veterinary Technician role is responsible for the general care of all animals in for treatment and surgery. This position ensures the safety of all patients in the hospital and follows our set standards of care. The Registered Veterinary Technician needs to be able to relay important medical information of patients to both our doctors and clients. The Technician applicant should take patient and client care as seriously as we do. New grads are encouraged to apply!
Day to day tasks include preparing patients for surgery, preparing the surgical suite, assisting in surgery and recovering surgical patients, restraining treatment patients for blood draws, preparing various vaccines or microchip insertions, creating treatment documents for doctors, administering fluids or oral medications, general electronic record keeping, filling approved medication requests, preparing cages and patient forms for the next day, staying in continuous contact with hospitalized patient owners, working closely with veterinary assistants in patient care, taking patient appointments, contributing to routine cleaning, providing client education, performing dog and cat nail trimming or anal gland expressions, and preparing bloodwork to be sent to the outside laboratory.
Technical skill set must include:
Shifts range from 5 to 10 hour shifts. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 am - 5 pm, and Saturdays from 8 am to 1 pm.
All new hires undergo a 90 day training period.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
