We are currently seeking a highly experienced and driven Plant Manager to join our team in Columbus, MS.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

  • The primary requirement of this position is to manage the day to day assigned-plant wide activities and maintain an acceptable level of production quality, and safety as well as manage the finances of the facility assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review quality problems and develop corrective action where needed.
  • Review production reports for activity against plan and make improvements as needed to attain goals.
  • Review production schedule and dispatch work orders to the production equipment as well as perform final review of work orders prior to costing.
  • Analyze delays in the department and investigate abnormal maintenance, operator, or quality delays.
  • Maintain housekeeping in the department and make appropriate assignments as necessary to sustain acceptable level.
  • Conduct safety training for employees.
  • Conduct quality training for all employees and record in appropriate employee training files.
  • Conduct employee evaluations and make salary recommendations.
  • Capable of operating all production equipment within the facility.
  • Capable of utilizing and maximizing available manpower to insure customer service.
  • Insures that employee adhere to all employee conduct rules, and disciplines where necessary.
  • Role modeling good attendance, good work ethic, and work habits, and concern for safety, quality, and warehouse cleanliness. Role modeling is done primarily through behavior and teaching of team tasks to other team members.
  • Must be able to communicate with peers including other shift supervisors and plant manager.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS AND MEASUREMENT

Measurable position performance:

  • Production results against plan/daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
  • Safety results against plan/monthly and yearly OSHA logs.
  • Quality results against plan/monthly rejection reports from the quality department.
  • Consistent maintenance of acceptable housekeeping.
  • Timeliness of assignments and follow-up until completion.
  • Leadership of the department in promoting problem-solving, team building, and fostering a cooperative spirit with other departments.
  • Review daily Safety, Quality, and Production numbers.
  • Conduct daily Lean Daily Management meetings.
  • Review daily production schedule.
  • Conduct quality 8D’s.
  • Conduct safety 8D’s.
  • Action Item Registry (AIR) items kept up to date.
  • Daily plant walks through.
  • Daily Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Conduct a daily scheduling meeting.
  • Shift change meetings.
  • Review next-day shipping logs.
  • Review ADP timecards and sign off.
  • Review the GEMBA walk schedule and conduct GEMBA walks.
  • Conduct safety observations daily.
  • Employee reviews.
  • KPI Preparation.
  • Operations meeting, weekly, and monthly.
  • P card review and approval.
  • Weekly Plant Manger meetings.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or combination of education and experience and proven track record in management of personnel.
  • Experience in operating equipment.
  • Good computer skills in Word, Excel, Scheduling, and Lotus Notes.
  • OSHA training in administering a successful safety program.
  • ISO 9000 training for quality requirements.
