JOB SUMMARY
The mission of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is to support all Health Center operations and provide excellent care to all patients. As directed by the state scope, Provider, Registered Nurse, and the Clinical Operations Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse assists the Provider and works with other members of the care team to serve as a frontline representative of and deliver on the PMD patient promise. The PRN LPN works on an as-needed basis, filling in for regular staff during their absence.
Hours available in Downtown Columbia. Float between Lexington and Northeast Columbia when needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with and documents treatments ordered and supervised by the provider or registered nurse
Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications
Perform tests ordered by the provider including laboratory tests, injections, EKG’s, Spirometry, inhalation treatments, annual physicals, visual screening, audiometry testing, and CLIA-Waived testing
Interviews patients, measure vital signs, and records information within patients' EMR
Prepare patients to be seen by the provider through interview/intake, review of medical history, vital sign assessment, and necessary patient visit details
Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing
Performs basic inventory management of supplies, and assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Associates degree and active certification as an LPN or LVN
2 years of experience as an LPN
Current certification in Basic Life Support
Recent experience drawing blood.
Knowledge of HIPAA
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge of Internet software, spreadsheet software, word processing software, and electronic medical records.
Ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to prioritize needs and plan work accordingly
