Responsibilities:

• Enter prescriptions and verify appropriate and accurate information
• Process prescriptions
• Resolve customer issues; ensuring accurate information is provided
• Working with hazardous medications in a negative pressure room
• Pulling and staging the medications for compounding
• Using USP795/800 non-sterile guidelines to compound medications
• Requires knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations
• Stocking medications
• Labeling and organizing medications
• Lifting up to 30 lbs. continuously
• Standing on feet for an 8-hour shift with breaks and lunch
• Process, pack and ship outgoing pharmacy orders, ensuring drug, related supplies and patient collateral (education materials) are included
• Interpret provider prescription and create order, access, input and retrieve prescription and medical / lab information from computer system, verifies whether order / drug is reimbursable / covered
• Compound medications using appropriate components, supplies and non-sterile / ventilated environment
• Perform drug / supply ordering and inventory / warehouse duties, including proper storage of drugs and supplies and appropriate refrigeration of perishable product, monitor and adjust/calibrate pharmacy equipment, fill dispensing units
• Contact members / patients to validate data, resolve rejected claims, request payment information, establish priority of order or delivery details, consult on medication issues, and set up treatment in on-site facilities

Qualifications required:

• High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
• State of Pennsylvania Pharmacy Technician License
• Proficiency with a computer and Windows PC applications including ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system application
• 1 years of compounding experience or very detail oriented personality to train for the position

Preferred Qualifications:

• Pharmacy / prescription data entry experience in Pioneer
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification
