Convergint is Hiring a Technical Writer Near Columbia, MD

The Technical Writer at Convergint Federal plays a pivotal role in the proposal development process. Reporting directly to the Proposal Manager, this position involves close collaboration with the capture manager, proposal team, engineering team, and operations team. The Technical Writer is responsible for preparing proposal text that addresses both technical and management sections, ensuring compliance with RFP (Request for Proposal) requirements. This role requires active participation in technical solutioning sessions, effective communication with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Technical Writers, and Managers, and leadership in technical proposal reviews. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional writing and communication skills, keen attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of RFP structures and federal compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare proposal text that addresses technical and management sections, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with RFP requirements.
  • Collaborate with the capture manager, proposal team, engineering team, and operations team in technical solutioning sessions to gather necessary information for proposal development.
  • Review and edit proposals to ensure compliance with RFP requirements and technical federal compliance standards.
  • Communicate document edits and updates effectively with SMEs, Technical Writers, and Managers, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned with proposal objectives.
  • Lead, prepare, and participate in technical proposal reviews, taking charge of sections or volumes as necessary, and providing technical writing and editing support.
  • Assist in maintaining proposal libraries, ensuring accurate and up-to-date content for future proposal efforts.
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of RFP structures and the ability to review and assess federal RFP requirements.
  • Handle program and multi-award (IDIQ, BPA, GSA) type proposals efficiently, understanding the nuances and specific requirements of each.
  • Be available and willing to work long hours on short notice during high-volume proposal development periods, demonstrating dedication to meeting proposal deadlines and objectives.
  • Other Duties as assigned within reason from previously stated responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related discipline.
  • Min of 5 years of proven experience in technical writing, preferably in a federal contracting environment.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Superb attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance with RFP requirements.
  • Comprehensive understanding of RFP structures and federal compliance requirements.
  • Experience with program and multi-award (IDIQ, BPA, GSA) type proposals preferred.
  • Preferred certification in Shipley or APMP
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with proposal management software is a plus.

  • United States Citizenship

  • Security Clearances: This position may require a security clearance. The clearance requirements are determined by the agency(s) in which you are assigned. Convergint Federal will sponsor the level of clearance required. However, it will be your responsibility to obtain and maintain your required level of clearance.
