Who You Are:

Seeking a part-time (with options to advance to full-time) Mid-level Environmental Analyst, who works well as a member of a team, and enjoys technical and scientific challenges. This position will support the technical execution of natural resources projects and effectively coordinate with and project partners. The position includes conducting assessments and evaluations of potential environmental impacts associated with solar energy development projects within the State of Maryland in addition to other power plant and transmission line environmental research projects. The position requires participating in client meetings related to project work. This is a hybrid position accommodating both in-office and remote working arrangements, and will be located out of our Columbia, MD office.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide technical support and review power plant Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCNs) and related applications with emphasis on assessment of potential environmental impacts
  • Coordinate Versar's review and regulatory analysis of the potential biological impacts of various power generation projects in compliance with local, state, and federal policy
  • Review applicants' environmental evaluations and studies
  • Conduct research to supplement or verify application material
  • Communicate professionally with Maryland's State contractors, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, generation companies, utilities, and other interested parties
  • Perform project delivery activities such as report writing, undertaking and organizing data collection and survey field work, data and literature review, drafting impact analyses, and developing licensing recommendations for clients
  • Analyze and manage data (Microsoft Access and Excel; knowledge of MS SQL and macro programming a plus).

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree BA/BS degree five (5) years' experience in natural resources management or environmental sciences field
  • Software required: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in statistical applications to natural resource and ecological problems (programming skills preferably in R and/or SAS).
