OHU Job Board is Hiring a Family Support Specialist Near Collinsville, IL

The Family Support Specialist works cooperatively with other agencies, caseworkers, and family aid specialists and family support services. Under the assigned supervisor, provides direct in-home supportive services to children and families whether in or out of the child welfare system; provides emotional support to families in crises including communicating with the family, establishing trust, and providing motivation and hope that the situation can improve.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's Degree preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED required

Additional Requirements

  • Auto Insurance

  • Reliable transportation large enough to transport sibling groups 
  • 75% of driving weekly

Job Duties Include:

  • Works cooperatively with other agencies, caseworkers, and family aid specialists and family support services
  • Serves and submits accurate written documentation on the service provided and the functioning of individuals and families as required by specific job or department
  • Teaches and demonstrates improved methods of housekeeping, home management, budgeting, nutritious meal planning, health, hygiene, and parenting
  • Assesses home safety and documents all corrections
  • Teaches and provides resources to help teach families to utilize community resources, (e.g. medical counseling, applying for housing, energy assistance, WIC, food stamps, social security birth certificates, parent teacher meetings, etc.) as needed
  • Supervises parent/child visitations modeling appropriate parenting techniques during the visit
  • Provides approved transportation when requested in service plan
  • Transports clients (youth) and their families to mandated court hearings, school appointments, doctor appointments or other case related appointments
  • Helps clients to reach goals on service and/or treatment plans
  • Serves as a liaison with collaterals such as DCFS/CD, schools, etc.
