Job Summary & Requirements

Job Summary :

In addition to performing the duties of the department assists in coordinating work flow and assignment and ensuring the department is operating smoothly.

Verifies quantity, quality, labeling, and addressing of products and items of merchandise ready for shipment by performing the following duties.

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates the behaviors of punctuality, regular attendance, professionalism towards supervisors and co-workers, and self-directed task completion.
  • Maintains clean work area.
  • Must comply with all departmental SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), company GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), Employee Handbook Policies, including attendance, and all safety rules and standards.
  • Works normal shift hours and overtime as required.
  • Counts, weighs, measures, or examines packaging and contents of items for conformance to company specifications.
  • Operates equipment such as banding machines, tape machines, shrink wrap, etc.
  • Compares items packed with customer's order and other identifying data.
  • Directs all activities of the packing department.
  • Reviews daily shipping report to ensure packing can meet specified on-time deliveries and / or communicates and coordinates with shipping and other production departments to adjust schedule as needed.
  • Oversees other associates assisting in the department, along with a crew of temporary employees during busy periods.

Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Must be able to work collaboratively with co-workers.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to read and write comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to address issues involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas, information and or work assignments with co-workers and management as needed.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite or related software, Manufacturing software and Order processing systems.

Education and Experience :

High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements :

Regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms.

Frequently required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch and talk or hear.

Frequently lift and / or carry up to 50 pounds and push / pull up to 125 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, dust, chemicals and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
