Job Summary
The job consists of routine and specialized work in performing security duties and enforcing order and discipline amongst the prisoners at the county jail. Work involves responsibility for preventing escape, maintaining order and discipline within the prisoner population and for escorting prisoners to and from their cells. The Jailer maintains security in and around cell blocks by checking facilities, taking head counts and performing security patrols. The employee performs the duties necessary to book a prisoner into the jail, including photographing and finger printing. The Jailer will supervise inmates in specific assignments to include, but not limited to: laundry, kitchen, book-in, court services, control, and road crew.
