POLYMER SCIENTIST

Our client, a top innovator in the Plastics Industry, seeks an experienced Polymer Scientist. This role involves developing new polymer formulations and collaborating with internal teams and external customers to ensure high product quality and consistency.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Polymer Scientist is tasked with creating new polymer formulations. The role requires developing the formulations and all necessary instructions, such as bills of materials, inspection plans, and key manufacturing process parameters.

DUTIES:

• Lead the development of polymer formulations to meet customer and internal standards.
• Develop and specify tests to ensure solutions meet customer requirements.
• Recommend and audit raw material specifications to ensure quality.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing to set process parameters that impact product performance and quality.
• Assist in resolving product performance issues and processing problems.
• Potentially present technical papers at industry events to support new product launches and promote industry thought leadership.
• Visit customers to present technical findings and introduce new products.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or chemistry, preferably in polymers or materials.
• Knowledge of polymers, including formulation development or polymer processing like extrusion and injection molding.
• 3 years of related experience in the plastics or polymers industry, focusing on product or formulation development.
• Experience with design of experiment techniques and statistical tests.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to ask probing questions to understand product and market opportunities.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to work effectively in a team and matrix environment.
• Experience in polymer formulation, especially in PVC or Polypropylene, is desirable but not required.
• Demonstrated success in new product development and launches.
• Publication of technical papers and granted patents are a plus.
