Senior Manufacturing Engineer Clearfield, UT Facility

Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, LLC (“UTMC”), a family-owned 100 plus year-old company, is the long-term industry leader in refrigerated semi-trailers and North America’s fourth largest semi-trailer manufacturer with six manufacturing factories – two in Virginia and one in each of Utah, Alabama, Arkansas, and Piedras Negras, Mexico – and a Research and Development facility in California. UTMC’s corporate headquarters is in City of Industry, California. 

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be driving UTMC’s initiative to Lean Manufacturing, automation, and collaborative robots.

Job Responsibilities:

• Identify, develop, implement, and monitor proper tooling and processes to be successful in the use of Lean, and Automation.
• Provide cost justification for process changes, tooling and equipment needs.
• Execute a written 5-year plan, including, but not limited to, identification of needs, changes and steps and process for managing through the change.
• Work within a lean manufacturing program environment.
• Identify and use internal and external resources to assist in areas that require technical expertise.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering required.
• Experience in development, installation, and monitoring of Lean, automation, and robotics in the heavy manufacturing industry (i.e. Tractor-trailer, semi-trailer, class 8 truck, buses, heavy farm equipment, etc.) is a plus.
• Strong leadership and written and verbal communication skills required.
• Three to five years’ Lean manufacturing experience required; black belt preferred.
• Previous or current leadership experience preferred.
• Must be a proponent of standardization.
• Technical knowledge of Semi-Truck Trailer manufacturing and component assembly a strong plus.
• Previous experience in developing and starting up automation and robotics programs a plus.
• Bi-lingual Spanish a plus.
