Role And ResponsibilitiesProject Management and Development:
  • Oversee the management of projects and resources dedicated to developing new product lines aligned with Cornell Pump’s strategic growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to craft comprehensive project proposals, including conducting market research, feasibility studies, defining project scopes, and establishing the breadth of product lines. Also responsible for developing cost estimates, economic project values, and timelines.
Mechanical Design And Analysis
  • Coordinate and execute mechanical design and analysis of centrifugal pumps, focusing on hydraulic design, machine components, and metallurgical requirements. This includes the application of various machine components such as bearings, mechanical seals, gasketed joints, and static seals.
  • Engage in the mechanical design and analysis of integrated pump drivers, specifically focusing on submersible electric motors.
Standards And Certification
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and certification requirements to meet product specifications and applications.
Sourcing And Supplier Management
  • Manage sourcing activities to support the new product development (NPD) process, which includes evaluating and developing potential and existing suppliers. This role involves clear communication regarding project goals, deadlines, technical challenges, pricing, and delivery options.
Testing And Quality Assurance
  • Design, schedule, coordinate, and/or conduct all necessary product testing for centrifugal pumps and electric drivers, ensuring advanced knowledge of data trends and results analysis.
Training And Support
  • Provide comprehensive training to dealers, end users, and sales staff on product application and maintenance.
  • Offer ongoing technical support to other departments, such as sales and manufacturing, which includes field troubleshooting, product application, value engineering, and solving complex problems.
Research And Investigation
  • Investigate to identify the causes of reported field issues with products, including handling warranty requests for failed products. This task may require travel.
Technical Knowledge
  • Possess a deep understanding of pressure transducers, flow meters, vibration accelerometers, and other rotating equipment sensors. Experience with data acquisition, control systems, and integrated condition monitoring is preferred.

Candidate Profile
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years with proven proficiency in a New Product Development environment, with a successful track record of releasing products.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Detailed knowledge of mechanical function, design, and assembly of electric motors.
    • Strong proficiency in Solidworks or equivalent 3D modeling software.
    • Extensive experience with specification, design, and operation of electrical motors and control systems, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor starters, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control, and remote condition monitoring.
    • Solid background in integrated Electrical/Mechanical assembly design.
Preferred
  • Experience in the design of submersible electrically driven centrifugal pumps.
  • Strong mechanical inclination with hands-on experience using hand and power tools, and working with large and complex mechanical assemblies.
Candidates should demonstrate a blend of technical expertise, project management capabilities, and practical engineering skills, ideally within fast-paced production environments.
Preferred QualificationsCertificates and Licenses Requirements:
  • Licensed Professional Engineer: Holding this license is highly advantageous.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP): Certification is preferred, indicating advanced project management skills.
  • Solidworks Certifications: Such as Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) or Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) are preferred, demonstrating proficiency in Solidworks software.
