Dohn Community High School is Hiring an Intervention Specialist Near City, OH

Title: Intervention Specialist
Reports to: SPED Director
Supervisory Supports: Building Coordinator
Overview:
The Intervention Specialist reports to the SPED Director and Building Coordinator. The Intervention Specialist
is responsible for planning and implementing goals and objectives, curriculum and management programs for
students with disabilities. The Intervention specialist often assess multiple elements including the child’s
language, religion, and developmental level. The intervention specialist will work as a part of a team on behalf
of the student with regular classroom teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure that students with
disabilities are educated in the least restrictive environment. The Intervention Specialist provides a positive and
nurturing guide for students with disabilities and attends to their physical, personal, academic, and emotional

Responsibilities:
? Comply with the operating standards for Ohio’s schools serving children with disabilities regarding
placement, instruction, and evaluation of students with disabilities
? Establish and maintain an effective instructional program for students with disabilities that is aligned
with the Ohio academic standards.
? Plan and implement strategies and activities to meet the needs of students with disabilities
? Assess students with appropriate diagnostic instruments, evaluate student's progress through the
utilization of established procedures.
? Knowledge of FERPA, HIPAA, and IEP development
? Knowledge of crisis prevention intervention (CPI)
? Ability to work with teachers and students to demonstrate ways of supporting students in the regular
classroom.
? Keep daily records of each student’s progress and report progress to students, teachers, parents as
appropriate
? Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical,
communicative, and emotional needs.
? Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
? Demonstrate the ability to maintain effective classroom management, provide for special document/
report all significant behavior concerns
? Participate in completing Evaluation Team Reports.
? Demonstrate the ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time,
work with frequent interruptions and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism.
? Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
? Participate in in-service training programs and professional growth activities.
? Perform other duties as assigned by the SPED Director or Building Coordinator.
Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education
? Ohio Department of education licensure as an intervention specialist
? Prior experience working with student who have special needs (Preferred)
? Ability to work independently and with a team
? Ability to plan, design and implement lesson plans.
? Pass a criminal background check
? Must read, write, and understand verbal instructions
? Ability to perform basic arithmetic
? Strong organizational and time management skills
? Strong attention to detail and adaptability
? Dependability and confidentiality
? Ability to maintain composure, even in difficult and stressful situations
? Empathy and integrity
? Professionalism and patience
? Ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships

Mental Demands/Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to

employee will need to maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, to include standing for
extended periods of time; stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; regular heavy lifting of students;
indoor and outdoor duties as assigned; biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and
the ability to adjust focus.

occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level can vary from moderate to loud.

how to conduct themselves as productive and responsible citizens.
